Just got a 1960 Fisher Coronet Console, but need some help!

Hello there!

I just purchased from an estate sale in very good condition a 1960 Fisher Coronet Stereo Console with a Garrard Turntable. I believe I got it from the 1st owners.

So, I realize I may be in over my head here! It seemingly works great but then upon further inspection the dropper does not drop records on the Turntable and no sound comes from the speakers once a record is on it. I can hears sound is coming from the needle though.

Also, once on the the AM/FM Tuner I the only speaker that functions is the right side once I switch the Balance knob all the way to the right.

All tubes are lit up, looking for some advice or a repairman recommendation in the Bay Area.

That's not the original changer, and is most likely inferior to the Garrard that the console would have shipped with.

Nicole. Actually on the Receiver there is nothing wrong with it the way you are using it. Google "AM-FM Simulcast stereo". This is one of the interim"stereo" that was between MONORAUL (Single channel) and Multiplex Stereo that came out in June 1961. However to get Multiplex stereo from it you would need to get an outboard Multiplex Decoder.

The turntable is like Sam said NOT THE ORIGINAL. Garrard RC-88 was the original TT but the Type "A"., AT6, AT-60 or their variants are for the most part fine as an upgrade. This looks like one of the variants, so it couldbe just that the grease has hardened up, and possibly the idler wheel is slipping.

I don't think that's a variant of the "A" or Autoslim. It looks like one of the low-end Garrard or BSR ceramic cartridge record grinders. As you noted, the "A" or Autoslim series would be a good upgrade from both the original RC/88 or the current unit.
