It's my first tube amp and I've always wanted one.
I've been at it for a few hours now, setting it up, trying to make sure everything is just right.
Just put on some Dylan vinyl, as I always do to christen a new piece of equipment. Can't say how I feel about the sound right now as it's too soon. I'll give it a few hours. I am planning to get more efficent speakers for them. The Dyanco A250 I'm using are about 88db and I have a pair of Mirage 250 at 90db but they are just bookshelf speakers, both are 8 ohm.
Sounds nice running through the Sansui Au-555A.
Haven't had a bite all day, lol!!
What is something simple I can use to clean the outside of it?

Welcome to the club -- neighbor gave me a Fisher 400 a year ago - my first piece of tube equipment - and I am officially hooked .. give that nice amp time to warm up and break in -- it seems to get better ... and is full of moments when you say "Man - I never heard that before ! " .. Amazed at the utter lack of any edge to the sound ... a delightful fatigue-free way to listen..

Fisher 400 that is a very nice piece of gear, looks and I'm sure sounds amazing. I've wanted a tube amp for a long time so I'm happy to finally getting one. Looking forward to those ah ha moments!!

Yes I've already read this but I've also read many, many reviews of people who own it and are quite satisfied with it. Just today, someone who knows people who have it mentioned how much they enjoy it. I think the thing is not everyone can afford thousands to spend on a tube amp. So like me they buy what they can afford. I've wanted one for a long time and got a great deal on this one. Been playing it all day with vinyl and CDs and it sounds good to me!!!

Just a heads up, swapping those 12ax7 tubes could result in a very good bump in sound quality. Perhaps Gold Lion for new or there are many NOS/vintage options. I have a Chinese preamp and swapping tubes made a big difference.

Thanks for the info!!

Tube-rolling is part of the fun. Yes, preamp tubes can make a significant difference.
Just breaking it in right now and it sounds very good with my CDs which I was surprised by for some reason.
Playing a lot of vinyl on it as well.
