Just got my Sherwood 7100a

I just sold a 7100 and am using the 7050 till it sells. The tuner is damn good and the thing sounds fantastic ... tube like ... and of late, I am very much gravitating to that sound. Cap coupled ... in effect the fact that its a sherwood is almost inconesquential. Cap coupled sounds awfully similar to one another IMHO. All tubey solid state making the speakers shine in where they are strong, and cover their flaws.
The 7050 - 10 watt my a$$, I'd have bet it was 2 X as much
Cool.
Srinath.

I've been looking for one of the lower-powered, US-made Sherwoods locally (I'm just not fond of shipping big, heavy, vintage audio gear). I just haven't honed in on which one is best for me. Perhaps an S-9500B integrated amp (What's the wattage p/c on the S-9500a? That's a possibility too). I'd most-likely-get an S-7100a receiver if I saw one because the wattage is perfect for my W90's, but I really-want to pick up a US-made model as well. The S-7500 and S-7600 are definitely on my radar. I can't go any higher than 30wpc (because of my speakers), so my choices are fairly-limited, but the early-solid-state Sherwood voicing is perfect for my speakers.

Unrelated, but let me just say that it is colder than a witch's private parts at the moment. I just can't get my apartment warm this morning...

I have an S-7010, an S-7100 and a monster S-110. They all sound great. Very sweet. I use a small Marantz in my office but the 7100 is my TV hook-up, paired with DB880s which are incredible speakers for any smaller amp, and I prefer the big Sherwood to a Marantz 2270 I had. The S-110 runs a pair of vintage Goodmans and a pair of vintage Fairfax's.

BTW, I believe a 7100A would be American made. The Japanese models ended in 10. So a 7010 or 7110 would be Japanese. 00 models were made in Chicago.
