Hello All,

Great site! I rarely join anything, but this one I couldn't miss. I am new to the vintage audio scene (ht pun intended), and have recently got a Pioneer SA-8500 amp that I have matched with a pair of Castle Pembroke speakers from (I think) the mid '80s. I work with a guy who previously was a broadcast technician and is very familiar with things that I am just learning about...long story short, he helped me build an attenuator for the new amp to have a cd player plugged into it (yes it's a ps1 SCPH-1001 with no mods as of yet).

Just wondering what other tweaks, or equipment that I should be looking for...ie turntable, tuner. Also, the castle's don't have front grills. I haven't seen any recent posts (only one from 2004) that talked about getting Studio Lab in Toronto to custom make some for me?

Thanks, and I will of course be around here for awhile. I guess they let anybody in.

m4rz,

Welcome to AK!

As far as the grills go maybe you could post a few pictures on the speaker forum. I'm sure someone might have some ideas for you.

Thanks for the info. Considering how much I have dumped into my ht, and just beginning to look at vintage, I must say that vintage has a certain air to it that I wouldn't normally expected.
Will be looking around here for more insight into this!

Good advice. Parts Express has about anything you'll need to build a set.
