Just Paid for a Vintage Sony TOTL Receiver~

Hello Folks,
Couldnt pass on this STR-7800SD receiver.
Top of the line from 1975 to 78,then was replaced
by the STR-V7,I know some of you have this model &
I know its alittle Premature,as I dont have it in my
Paw's yet,But I wanted to share in this Venture,
as I dont think the seller has Shipped many Heavy
Receivers.I asked for/gave some instructions
on Packaging methods to follow,But I feel Im gambling more than usual on this guy
and can only cross my fingers and Hope for some
Audio Karma my way, from him & you all!!!
(All the "United Package Smasher" threads lately
have got me Twitching ara:ara:ara

I have only one Sony receiver, the STR-V6 (younger brother of the V7 you mention), and it is a very "sweet" receiver. It gives nothing up to the other big "monster" receivers of the era, neither in build quality nor in sound quality, and has a very attractive green dial color. If your model (haven't seen one of those before, that I can recall) is half as nice, you'll be happy with it, for sure! Congratulations! :thmbsp:

Thanks so much from the other side of the World-
If I remember the V6 and the 7800SD are around
the same watts per channel 120 to 125 and the
7800 has a 4 gang tuner to yours being 5 gangs.
Ive had one before,but parted with it some time ago.
According to Axel's TVK,the 7800SD was mainly
released in the North American market,
The 6800SD could be hiding in one of the Many
Nooks and Cranny's youve written about in H.K.
I like the massive Torodial transformer in second Pic!

Why don't you prepare a shipping box already styrofoamed along with bubblewrap for him with complete instructions and mail it to him? Might save some grief down the road.

The seller seems to sell mostly books and clothing
and found it at an estate sale.
Described it as "Powerful 300 watts" as stated on back(Power Consumption rating).
