I am sure this has been posted many times. But...
I bought the speakers at a flea market a while back. I noticed they were buzzy playing some music off Youtube and the buzz was somewhat inconsistent. So, I bought the crossover capacitors and just replaced them all. $7.00 for the parts, $6.95 for shipping from Parts Express. OUCH. The job took about an hour. A power screwdriver would have made the job far less work of removing the backs. Not bad even without it.
The difference in sound with the new parts is phenomenal! They are completely changed!
No more distortion and the sound overall is way clearer. Vocals are changed dramatically.
I cannot recommend this bit of work enough for the the other owners of old speakers.
