Just to clarify: Streem speakers are NOT white van!

Awesome AK member.
My dad recently purchased a pair of streem FS-808 tower speakers and they are awesome! They sound nice, have good bass and are built tough. The are made of 1/2 MDF, and the woofers have HUGE magnets and cast baskets.
For the price you cant go wrong. They may sound suspicious (lots of ads on E-bay, metallic drivers, low price) but believe me! they are killer. If anybody is out for a good HT system that can go loud and sound good check out streem.

Sorry for the rant but a lot have been calling them "white van parking lot speakers" but believe me I know white van stuff when I see it (my local pawn shop is flooded with haufmann and kirsch speakers) But the streems are something else.:music:

DAMN! 1/2" MDF!

They sound to me like a house brand speaker for that company on ebay, made for them. They aren't free by any stretch, so at least they have the potential to be good. Not a something for nothing type deal.

I am glad you are a Streem vendor. However, an audio company that does not put their business address, phone number, and tech sheets on their own homepage = white van speakers. So sorry.:thumbsdn:

Why? They get sold out of the same Kirsch van here in town. HMmmmm.
 
Indeed- but when you have to list "Are Streem Speakers high-end?" in your FAQ, that is not entirely encouraging. I could find no comparable FAQ on Magnepan's, Legacy Audio, or Genesis Advanced Technologies website. I guess they don't sell high-end speakers... :scratch2:

That said, they don't seem to artificially inflate their prices to ridiculous amounts as a true Whitevanner would, and doucanoe has not accosted me in a parking lot with a pair yet. Indeed, their prices, apparently, are in line with what you would pay for a comparable speaker of greater lineage at Best Buy and its ilk. I would highly suggest that they redesign their website to loose the desperate White-Van appearance if indeed they are legit.
 
I know the lack of address on the site makes them sound fishy. But im just sayin for the price and sound they are pretty awesome. And im not a audio dealer. Ive never even sold stuff on CL or kijiji or anythin like that. The "are streems hi end" FAQ question still weireds me out tho.
 
1/2 in MDF........What does that mean, and just how thin do you think you can go with a speaker?
Sorry, they dont look like that big of a deal and I dont know why it bugs you so much anyway?
 
They probably come out of China. Not to say that they won't sound good though. Some of the Chinese tube amps are starting to draw some attention because of their good sound.
 
China is amking some good stuff, I have heard some tube pre's and cd players that look great and sound great too.
I feel bad for those 3 fingered orfan children but they make a pretty good product thats getting better.
 
Heck, you can get JBL's for the same price. At least you know where those chinese made JBL's come from. Id bet the quality is about the same too (its probably 3/4" MDF though). But at least youd be supporting a company you know, instead of a guy with a few hundred boxes of crap from china stored away in his basement.

I agree with ya. There is some good gear rollin out of China.

I will, China is making the US a Third World Nation selling us their crap. Your children/grandchildren will all too soon be those "orfans." God help us.

You can't blame China, we are doing it to ourselves. US companies are going to China because we (the consumer) want to pay the lowest prices possible. China is just the tool for American companies to make larger profits.
