JVC Amp- Terrible Quality?

I have a dead JA-S22 JVC amp. No lights. No power. But what surprised me is so many of the underside of the boards bad solder joints. I will post a pic in a bit. But never seen such a large amount of bad joints.
Has anyone else experienced this on JVC stuff?

Not more than any other brand that is over 40 years old. Maybe it had a hard life?

The production quality of JVC products is usually impeccable.

Looks more to me like some mook had a go at "fixin' all a them dry sodders" in a diagnostic-free attempt to "git er goin agin"

Pretty much any wave-soldered unit more than 10 or 15 years old will show some cracked solder joints just from the heat cycles. Just fix 'em and move on.

All of the JVC stuff I've had, from the ancient 5010 to the massive 5551, has been very well made. But, the solder joints have tended to be rather close together and just about every SEA section has had abysmal solder on it--all grainy and dull-looking. I don't know if JVC used a special grainy substrate and that's why it looks that way, but I don't think so. That said, JVC has to be one of the most underrated hi-fi brands out there, along with Sherwood. The sound those old JVC's put out is extraordinary (I must have at least four of them, maybe five).

Dunno. Cosmetically its good. Not mint but nice. $30 special. So I added it to the pile.
