JVC AX-44 Stereo Integrated Amp

Hey all, I'm new here so I'm sorry if this gets placed in the wrong thread. Anyways, I just recently picked up a JVC stereo integrated amp and was hoping to use it as just an amp as I already have a stereo that I like. The stereo I currently have has preout outputs, however, I have no clue how to connect it to the JVC amp. There are two U-shaped tubes/pins on the back, but I'm honestly at a total loss. I'll post some pics of the back tomorrow

Does the JVC have the U-shaped jumpers? If not then it is only an integrated amplifier and cannot be used as a power amplifier.
 
The remote control in/out jacks might be preamp in/out. Try plugging the output of your existing preamp into the remote control in jacks and see what happens.

This was before remote controls were common. The remote was probably an optional component with only a few controls, one of which would have been volume, which was done with a motorized potentiometer in that component.
 
Here's the thing.... You say that your current setup has pre-outs. But those jumpers are in place so that the amplifier section of whatever you have is still being used. If you were to take those out and then only use the JVC as an amp then the amplifier section of whatever you have would not be used. So there is that. You could get around that with some Y cables. What do you have and use now? That is pertinent information.
