JVC JA-S22 - STK0040 vs STK0040II

Hi,

I am fixing JVC-JAS22. One of the STKs is blown. They are STK0040.
I can find both 0040 and 0040II. The II version much cheaper. Can use 0040II instead of 0040?
As per the datasheet pins 4-7 on 0040 are not used (they are not connected to anything in the amp either) while the version II uses them. But if I connect the 0040 without these four pins connected, would it perform the same as 0040?

datasheet:

Thanks

Not sure I would try to sub a STK0040II for a STK0040, as there is a lot more solid state junctions in the type 2, and not sure what the effect of leaving tose 4 pins disconnected would be, although if you try, I highly recommend only connecting pins 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 0, and leave pins 4, 5, 6, 7 bent up and out of the way.

But I would see no problem substituting the STK1040 for the STK 40. Just use pins 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 0 on the STK1040 and bend the other pins up, as they are just extra connections for the internal emitter resistors, which aren't needed. I can also steer you to some NOS ones, that aren't counterfeits.

Hey Tom,

I know I might be a few years late but do you eventually still have some NOS STKs? I just got a JVC JA-S31 and the modules inside are gone. Thank you very much!
