JVC JA-S41 vs JVC A-X55

Hello all! I'm thinking of getting one of these receivers and I'm not sure exactly which one I should go with. I'm not able to listen to either of them, so if you've heard these amps I'd like your impressions. I can't find the spec for the damping power on the JA-S41. So if anyone has this info it would be helpful. Both have about the same wpc, so I'm not concerned with that. The amp will be powering a set of RTR HPR 12 Magnum speakers.
Thanks in advance! Hopefully @GD70 will chime in and a few other fans of JVC.

The specs on the A-X55 look outstanding. Of course this stuff is 45-50 years old and probably needs some kind of service to make sure it still meets its specs.
I'd also be looking to see if either uses STK modules. I doubt the A-X55 does.

I have a lot of JVC equipment, including amplifiers and receivers. I would undoubtedly choose the JVC A-X55 because it uses JVC's Super-A technology. In my experience, Super-A produces better sound at low volumes (i.e., flat sound with inaudible distortion, as if it were a pure Class A amplifier at low volumes).

Thanks @redk9258 . I made the seller an offer last night and he accepted it this morning. I'll probably be selling my JVC RX-750 soon. I know you used to have several of these and the 950 as well.

Yeah, I had already checked out the specs on both of them, and the JA model just didn't have enough info on it...good or bad. I've heard nothing but good things about the A-X series from several people. I just never had a chance to get one. I would love to get an A-X9 one day. It was there top of the line I believe...at least for that time frame.

I have a 'humble' JVC A-X1 (with Super-A and discrete transistors at the output) and a JVC JA-S44 (with original STK-0050 Power Packs). They both look and sound great. I restored (and recapped) both in 2018. In my opinion, Super-A sounds better.

Well, I received the A-X55 this past Wednesday...and of course it was damaged due to a really bad packing job. They used newspaper for protection inside one worn out cardboard box. The right corner of the front panel door was broken, and the unit does not work at all. It just flashes a green light on the volume control. I don't hear a relay trying to click or any other sound.
The seller assured me the unit worked perfectly before I purchased it. They don't accept returns, so I had to open a case to get a return started.
