Hello and best regards!
I have a JVC JR-S400 “Mark I” that is looking for some use. However, it doesn’t quite work as I had imagined. In and of itself, everything is almost fine, but there is always some sort of noise in the background that can also be influenced by changing the volume control (can become louder or quieter). This noise also occurs on both channels at the same time. Sources don’t even have to be connected.
The amplifier was quite dusty and dirty at the beginning, but is now clean again after a laborious cleaning job. Almost all capacitors on all boards have also been replaced (with panasonic caps). Only the two large filter capacitors are still original. I had also tried to clean the switches and the like without much success.
Here is a video of the noise I mean. The video is not from me, but it is EXACTLY the same noise / problem. The person in the video also has a JVC JR-S400 “Mark I” in use. The only difference is, my JVC is not making any "pop" sounds ... just this "static" stuff.
