JVC L-A11 Tonearm return

I am gifting a JVC L-A11 turntable along with a JVC JR S201 receiver and some baby Genesis speakers to a single mom in need of a system.

I need some help with the auto-return tonearm. It lifts and retracts just fine but when the tonearm starts to settle onto the tonearm rest the tonearm moves forward, i.e. towards the record and misses the arm rest.

Can anyone give me a quick primer on what needs adjusting (and where 'it' is)? I have been in vinylengine and they don't show a service manual for that TT and I don't know what other JVC used the same tonearm mechanics.

Anyhow I am hoping that someone can assist.

Thanks

To pchilson ... Many thanks for the quick response. It made the repair quick, about 20 minutes from start to finish, and painless. The TT is working perfectly now and will be, I am sure, well-appreciated and your help was a great contribution.

Also thanks to BruceRPA who started the thread that pchilson referred me to, and to both Fred Longworth who in that thread identified the problem and especially Mutato who posted the brilliant photos which showed me exactly where to go and what to do make the repair.

In the grand scheme it is/was a small problem with a simple repair but when you don't even quite know where to look then that small problem is (and was for me!) a bigger problem.

But now it is fixed and I can deliver this gift and for that I am grateful.

Thanks again to all of the above.

Cheers
