JVC QL F6 - How-to on cleanup, stylus/cartridge reccomendations...

Hi Everyone - total newb here; just picked up my first TT for 50 bucks and want to make sure I don't screw it up - so I'm hoping to get a little guidance on the initial few questions that pop into my head...

Cleaning - the platter has some oxidation(?) little white specks/spots under the edge of the rubber pad and on the outer vertical edge, how should I address this? I mean what type of cleaning products are safe to use on the platter/platform/buttons, etc. I don't want to scratch them or hurt the finish at all. I was thinking of going gentle with a lightly dampened cloth, little bit of dish soap. This TT is very clean, these spots are very minor, but I thought I'd try to detail it before calibrating it...

It has a "ZB E-1" cartridge in it right now, but apparently no stylus, so I at least need to get a stylus - any recommendations? and is there a way to test the cartridge, how do you know when one needs replacing? If this one needs replacing is there a general go-to cartridge/stylus combo that would work well with this specific TT?

Then I was wondering if there are any recommended tutorials/video series, etc. that might show me how to calibrate everything, I will print the manuals out and go through those first, but wondering if there are any not to miss resources out there.

Thanks in advance for any specific recommendations you might have!

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

The JVC QL-F6 was originally fitted with JVC MD-1025EB cartridge using a JVC DT-Z1S stylus or " DT-Z1EB 0.3 x 0.7mil elliptical diamond".

Yours had a JICO replacement stylys.

This one is still available though: http://www.jico-stylus.com/product_info.php?products_id=1434

For tone arm balancing purpose , have a look at the following video.

Different turn table, same principle:

Awesome thanks guys, I will double check name on cartridge when I get home, definitely possible that I transposed some characters...any ideas on how to clean the surfaces/platter - or am I being paranoid? Thanks!
