JVC R-S33 receiver?

OK,

My first vintage receiver find was a mint JVC R-S33 receiver and it's time to pull it out of the closet. I love the green lights on this guy. The Problem!!!
When you turn the unit on, it has that time delay for 15 seconds than the music starts. However, the relay trips intermitantly when listening and the music goes off for a few seconds before starting again. Could this be a simple fix by replacing the relay or do i have a bad resistor that is causing it to trip?

My wife got a R-S33 after college in the 70's. A few years ago it started cutting out as described by the OP, so we retired it. Last week I got it out of storage, and gave all the pots and switches a good cleaning with Deoxit. It seems to be working fine now. Can't point to a specific component because I cleaned them all, then tested. Might have just been the jostling around that fixed it, but a good cleaning is almost always worth a try with old gear.

This is a very nice receiver from 1980. I strongly recommend having a good tech do the repairs unless you are good with electronics. Anything could be causing it to go into intermittent protection mode like that. Could be a tiny diode the size of a grain of rice. Diagnosing and finding the faulty part or parts is difficult.
