JVC R-S77 surge problem

Hello all. Recently purchased the above on FBM. After having it play through my Cambridge Soundworks Model Six for about a week, which sounded very good, I heard a small "pop" through the speakers. Nothing very loud. Didn't seem to affect the speakers. After about a week of further listening, this morning I heard a much larger "pop", and after checking speakers, my left channel seems to be affected. It still puts out sound, but I can hear a slight "rattling" in the sound from the speaker. The right channel does not seem to be affected. 'm going to bring this to my tech to have both the receiver and the speakers checked out, but thought I'd post here. Just curious as to what may have caused this. Starting to wonder if my time and money investment in vintage audio is worth it. Thanks for any input.

I'm going to move this over to the solid state forum from the tuner forum. While your receiver has a tuner, this is not a tuner "radio" problem.
