JVC RX-77 Receiver Tuner backup memory?

Hi! I hope this isn't off-topic. I have bought (for a few bucks) this receiver and two nice speakers. Thing is, it works great. But if I program the FM stations (tuner memories) and I disconnect the equipment from the AC, it retains them for a few days but not more than that. I have removed the cover to try and find a battery that may explode if it is one of those olds that leak acid.

Haven't disassembled it. Found nothing. Took a look at the schematics, found nothing.

Are you aware of how this things retain memory? Do they just use a simple capacitor?

If so, nothing to worry about (except for an electrolitic blowing out).

Thanks!

Unable to find any info on the web for an RX-77. This is from the R-S77 service manual (which is a very nice receiver IMHO) YMMV. They did it like many televisions - the switch doesn't switch the AC coming in, but switches on the rest of the unit.

So the answer is RTFM!... THANKS!

So we can confirm it is a capacitor and not a battery or it should say something different.

Yes...it's a capacitor. This is presuming you have an RS77 or the circuit in yours is the same....
