Hello everone :D

One mont ago, a friend gave me an amplifier that he got in legacy by his grand-father, has the title say, it's the JVC RX-903V... I don't know if it's a good amp but it sound absolutely awesome. Before I got it I had the Technics SA-GX100 and the JVC one sound way better!! I had tried to find the user manual on the net but apparently, he's NOT on the net... if someone got it, please let me know. So, if somebody know something about this amp please reply to this post.

Looks like you have the bigger brother to my JVC. I have a RX 703V. Can't seem to find much about mine online either! I have no manual, but i did manage to get SOME specs for it off a long ago for sale post. I'm sure some of them would apply to your unit.

JVC RX-703V (1990 - 1991)
100watt x 2 Amp with JVC's DYNAMIC SUPER-A architecture, both channels driven into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with no more than 0.007% total harmonic distortion.
90x 2 plus 10x 2 power in 4 channel Dolby Surround mode

5 Band SEA (equalizer with factory presets and 5 user adjustable presets) which breaks down the audible frequency range into seven bands at intervals of 4/3 octave. Each band of tones can be adjusted as desired by the listener.
A total of 10 preset patterns can be used.

SOURCE RELATED PRESET, lets you customize what function and volume level you want as defaults for each source you connect.
AM/FM tuner with 40 presets
Digital labling (user adjustable)

Hum pretty same as mine...

My amplifier got 4 stereo output and 2 surround output and he's 690 watts total, he got the 7 band SEA équaliser, compulink and all this stuff...

Does someone know the class of this amplifier?
 
I just had the same receiver given to me. It was sitting in a friends garage. Very nice receiver! Has some weight to it which is good. Havent pushed big speakers with it yet, just my infiniti RS3 bookshelf speakers. Sounds real nice and looks cool too! Definitely a keeper!

I have the JVC RX-807v... pretty close i can imagine iv had mine for a while, mint with remote from the trash! amazing receiver must say, might start using it with my polk SDA2's if my yammie a-1000 dies honestly. right now i have it pushing a set of Infinity RS3's as well in my dorm at school. Honestly the 903 is probably pushing more then 100 watts mine pushs @120 watts same THD and what not to give you a idea... I found my info at a sale post to tho ahaha does anyone know what CSRP is? does your receiver have it to?
 
I got an JVC RX 888V. Very very underrated amp. It walks all over many many amps of its vintage.

I'm a little late to this party. But I got the set up. A mint RX-903vbk receiver with matching XL-v311 CD player and
TD-w660 double cassette deck and TD-v66 single cassette deck. Connected speakers are ES200 by Infinity and Triad InRoom Silver fronts and smaller Triads in the back.
True.... there's not much info on the web about this receiver or the series.
My ownership experience with it and compared to other similar receiver brands, this one sounds the most clear and clean. I have only used it for music and not video, so far. I've owned it for almost a year. No problems. It does run slightly hot, but I am pushing 4 ohm speakers. Again, not a issue. Sounds great. Nice build quality too. Manual operation is kinda ackward and hard to read. A clip light helps.
I'll say it, I've been under the impression JVC stuff sucks. But so far my experience with the brand has been positive and impressive. That's going back to my vintage JR-s301, R-k20, and various components. All have held up better than Sony and Yamaha components.
The RX-903 receiver all and all IMO is a very nice sounding receiver.
 
I've got JVC rx-903vbk also, with JVC td-v621 cassette, and JVC xl-f106 turntasble cd, technics sl-d1, running my mid 70's belles. i must say i will sorely miss the 903 should it ever fail.
I've had the 903 since new, i bought it close out when it was new. was the last one, probably had lots of hours on it when i bought it. still doing great today. i have most of it shut down, just using it as two channel now.
 
I just picked up a RX-803V at garage sale for $25 yesterday. I've been looking for information on it but I can't find squat. No specs, no user guides, service manuals, nothing. Numistrek09 post has givin me the most info fo far. Anyone know the watts/channel RMS rating for the 803 at least?
 
Update: I couldn't remember what volume level I was listening to the last time I used the 903, but odds are it was medium loud'ish. Being late at night, I pushed the power button on then immediately pressed the volume square to reduce the output of sound instead of that first blast. Just in case. There's no way of knowing until the unit powers on.
This design makes me appreciate most volume controls with turning knobs.
When I did turn receiver on and press the volume down.....the receiver went "POP!". Sounded like it came from the rear left. Only one side plays now, left side. No right. I removed the top and checked the fuses, inspected the guts, etc. Hum? Everything visually seems ok. But why did it POP! And less one channel output? Better safe than sorry, I disconnected the 903 from its rig. It sat alone for a couple weeks.

To double check what side went out before writing this ... I hooked up the receiver to a pair of beater speakers and a iPad into the CD input jacks. Plugs it in, powered on, and ....wtf?
Wow, Both side play and play well. The 903 healed itself.

Last week I purchased a used 803. I didn't need it. But for $9.99 and 30% off? Also heavy. This model is slightly more user friendly, less powerful, and smaller in size. Similar sound tho.
Internet search results were scant.
 
I've got a 903V and love it. It has gobs of clean power and still looks modern today (imo). I will say I do not like the style of volume control, and mine needs a new super cap to store my EQ settings.

My 903V isn't going anywhere.

This link lists the 803V at 120 wpc, which I'm not sure is correct since it lists the 903V at 100 wpc. I wonder if the specs are flipped. It also lists the 703V at 100 wpc, which i doubt is accurate.

I found the manual download at br503.info however when I tried to download it it said to sign up. I did not.
 
The rear of the JVC's states:
Rx-803vbk AC120V~60Hz 460W 600VA. 8~16 ohms speakers. (No center speaker option)
Rx-903vbk AC120V~60Hz 690W 730 VA. 4~16 ohm speakers. (Has a switch for 4-6 and 8-16 ohm speakers)

I found this thread while trying to save time digging out my manual. I'm trying to see how much I'd have to spend to have the same audio quality with some new features. Looks expensive so far. Oh well.

Grandpa needs help. Bought my RX-903V new. Cant find the manual. Hooked up an Echo via CD inputs. Using original Altec Lansing StoneHedge II's. But when I shut off Surround to get simple stereo, I lose all sound. Why? Seems like I never used Surround for stereo sound, but forget how. I don't like Hall, Stadium, or ProLogic. Don't like the Delay. Also the sound from the Stereo Echo sounds like it intermittently drops sounds. Can you effectively use a stereo Echo? Thanks for the help.

those two channel numbers seem really conservative when you consider the amount of current these things are drawing! I bet 120 WPC @8 ohms is about right in two channel mode.
