JVC S-M3 - opinions?

Hey guys! I just bought a pair of JVC S-m3 speakers, since... after listening to some 70s JVC amplifiers I absolutely got in love with the brand.
I think these are small speakers, but still probably sounds good, they have a very good tweeter based on what I have been reading. Probably due to the size they lack a bit of bass, but since never heard them maybe you can tell me a little bit about them.

Not familiar with the model, but in the late 70s and early 80s there were quite a few similar speakers: small, usually black-painted aluminum, cabinet (around 7" high), 4" woofer, dome tweeter, decent quality. Some contemporaries include the Visonik David (which was arguably the first), ADS L200, Canton Plus S (these had a composite rather than metal cabinet), and Realistic Minimus 7 (almost definitely the most popular and well known of the genre, if not nearly the best). I'd bet you could make a decent full-range system by adding a subwoofer, but I'd want one that had a high-pass crossover for the JVCs (crossed over probably around 100hz, maybe even higher, depending on their capabilities) since those small woofers usually can't take much power, especially in the low frequencies that they're unable to reproduce.

I'm a big fan of Canton, in fact couple of JVC amps I already own are connected to Canton Quinto speakers, so Cnaton Plus S are probably good as well.. Thanks for your feedback! really appreciated, let's see if someone else or someone who owns them can tell us a little bit more

Yes, the Plus S is very good, I own a pair. As do several other AK'ers.

I picked up a couple of sets of the M3's a few years ago, great speakers for their size, with a very nice top end thanks to the alnico silk dome, as others have said there's not much bass below 70hz, but for me they are one of the better aluminium cabbed mini speakers, I also have a pair of the bigger m5's, which perform a little better in terms of bass, both models could probably benefit with a bit more dampening of the alloy cabs, but still very good for their time imo. They pair well with the JVC A-M1 amp of a similar age.
