JVC SEA R7 Graphic Equalizer Opinions

I have always been a bit fascinated with this equalizer and for a few reasons. As far as I know it was manufactured from 1983 to 1987. Other popular JVC equalizers of that time were the SEA 70 and SEA 80. Many people used them with the JVC JR S line of receivers. I just find it weird how this equalizer is so unique from any other JVC equalizer it doesn’t seem like it was made to go with any other specific line of stereo equipment which makes me wonder if this was just a random stand-alone equalizer JVC made or is it meant for studio/professional use? How well do you guys think it stacks up against other good equalizers?

If anyone has an experience with this equalizer, or has any interesting information on it please feel free to chime in. I would like to know.

I was drooling over this EQ, but they were a lot of cash! Got a great deal on my SEA-80, and the SEA-40 for 99cents from fleabay, I was the only bidder.
Anyway, there's one of these listed now for a great price and if I didn't have the other two, I'd buy it. There's a fair amount of info on this EQ on the web. It's also very cool looking.

yea i paid a pretty penny for mine. would also like to get my hands on a sea 80, but i don't really need one. both of them have unique features. like the sea 80s Spectrum analyzer, mic input, and pink noise generator. compared to the R7 having 12 bands and a Delay time equalizer.

in fact, what is the point of the Pink Noise generator? what does it do?

Cheese and crackers!! I was reading this at a minor league BB game and almost got hit with a foul ball!!! LOL

I've read what the pink noise generator is for, but you're better off reading about it on the net, than my feeble attempt to try and decipher it.
