Hello all first post here. I have a set of jvc sk-15a speakers, and couldn't hear the supertweeters .. Based on past threads, I'm finding out that this is a common issue. I thought I'd unscrew the speaker leads and take a look inside, and what I found was a single copper strand the thickness of a human hair soldered from the input, which apparently dangles down to the magnet inside. Is this normal? I don't see how that would be capable of carrying any signal at all. A multimeter revealed that there was no power going into either supertweeter from the crossovers (all other speakers have power). If anyone could drop a little knowledge on the subject that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Those wires are fine if they aren’t disconnected anywhere. As that driver only handles the highest of frequencies, only a little power passes through them.
As for the crossover issue, there is a chance some of the old capacitors have gone way out of spec and are needing replacement. When they are truly shot, the caps can block signal.

Hey D's, I appreciate your reply. I replaced the cap directly connected to supertweeters and tweeters in one speaker, still no reading on multimeter when I check the power supply to the supertweeters, but tweeters do have power. These sound pretty good without the supertweeter, so I'll just enjoy them with or without the supertweeter function. I might replace the high and mid volume pots, cracked one open and inner springs are caked in old grease-turned-glue. It's amazing they still work (with a little scratchiness). Replacing the 2 dead tweeters might be a challenge, they're labeled 16 ohm, 2 watt/10 max. I've had no luck finding anything in that range.
It may be that there is so little material coming thru at the frequencies where the ST’s operate that your meter didn’t pick up anything. Reconnect them and play something symphonic. Take a paper towel tube and cover the ST on one end and put your ear at the other end. You may hear the uppermost harmonics coming thru.
This is really all guessing at this point, but is worth a try. (In my book anyway.)

If two tweeters (or any two speakers of same) are wired in series, their 8 ohm rating will double to 16.

It's difficult to see where those wires go. Both appear broken in the pic. Can you see the other end of the wire? If you can, you can take a piece of twisted copper speaker wire, un twist and pull a single strand and use as a splice to reconnect the broken ends.

DON'T REMOVE THE TABS (SOLDER TABS) AS A FIRST STEP, YOU CAN BREAK A GOOD WIRE DOING THIS. You need to melt the solder and pull the good tiny wire from the inside before removing those tabs.
I'm trying to solder a new wire to the VC and assemble again. As said, the wire is thinner than a human hair, so excessive heat will vanish it. You need to be VERY CAREFUL, YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE. If the little tail that is still OK is burned, no more chances to save the tweeter.
