JVC stereo CA S700, vocal masking

Dear Members,
I'm now to this site and may post in the wrong place so please forgive if that is the case.
I hope you will not ignore my post and help me with a peculiar issue.
I have an old JVC stereo CA S-700R which seems to be fine apart one item. The "vocal masking" is "on" (that makes almost impossible to enjoy hi-fi music) and I cannot deactivate as I don't have the original remote (RM-SES 700RUKP). I tried to buy the remote online (ebay) but there is none JVC to include this vocal masking function.
I tried with an universal remote but that can control only a few functions but not the "vocal masking".
Is there any way I can deactivate the "vocal masking"? I'm keen to make it work and is such a pity that I may have to bin it just because there is not a manual control of that function.
Any ideas will be welcomed.
I looked through the manual but there is nothing about resetting the unit.
I tried JVC UK but the standard answer- too old and we don't have a clue.

This will be really difficult without the remote. More than likely, an IR chip will send a digital "word" to a DSP chip. It would be almost impossible to internally set that word. Or even know what it is. The only thing that I can think of that might work, is to look through the manual and see if there's a master "reset" function. That might clear that condition. Sometimes this is achieved by holding down some buttons as you turn it on.

Short of that, finding a Logitech, or somesuch, that has that model # "code" in it.

I don't see DSP doing that function. Page 73 shows circuitry labeled as Karaoke, a simple additional available routing through a set of Operational Amplifiers configured with a filter to produce L-R signal as where vocal information (center of a stereo mix) is located. These units use analog route switch devices and so if you identify the chips on the board you may be able to lift or bridge a connection to force a standard audio path sans "karaoke" processing. If there's a battery present in the system maybe try to remove residual power to reset to normal operation. Good luck!

I'm looking after a JVC audio remote with vocal masking function but no luck so far. I know this is an old unit but JVC could have designed it differently.

Will have a look inside the unit but from the manual couldn't see any battery.

It worked. I'm blown away by the knowledge on this platform.

I didn't think I will see it working. I spotted the C921 in one of the corners of the unit-I guess I was lucky.

The unit sounds sublime- so no time wasted.
