Howdy, I just picked up a JVC XL-600 6+1 CD player and a JVC RX-701V Surround system receiver. $10 for the pair. Both work perfectly. Lucky me! However, The CD player did not come with the 6 disk magazine and there is no remote for either one. I can't find any information on what magazine the cd player takes. I see a lot of XC - M75 mags out there but no idea if it would fit. I'm having a hard time finding a remote too. Does anyone know where these things might be found? Thanks!

Yes, the magazines should be the same. In general, during the heyday of the cartridge multi-disk CD player, manufacturers picked a format and stuck with it (this changed a bit with car CD changers, but we're not talking about that). Pioneer, Onkyo and Magnavox used one common type, and JVC, Kenwood and Yamaha used another type. Within those types, they should all be compatible with one another (more or less; there were some Pioneer cartridges that worked in home but not car changers, or vice versa). So if it has the below logo, you should be good.
Regarding the remote, I'd look for a Harmony remote with an LCD (so you can set up custom buttons), such as a 550, 600, 650, or 659. If you look at a model like the 880/890, make sure it comes with the charger (or can charge via USB) and that you can still get the rechargeable battery pack for it.

If you want to get a genuine JVC remote, know that manufacturers rarely change their remote codes from year to year. If a remote works with a 1990 JVC CD player, it will most likely also work with a 2000 JVC CD player, so all you need to do is find a pic of your CD changer with the remote (there are plenty on the web), then find something that has at least those buttons that you're going to use. Same goes for the receiver. However, codes for all-in-one systems are usually different, as are codes for DVD players vs CD players.
IME, universal remotes (other than Harmony) don't work well with CD changers. The changer functions tend to be mapped to non-obvious buttons.

Hi swechsler, Just want to let you know I got in XC - M75 magazine, and it works perfectly. I am very happy. I still haven't purchased the remote, but that will come in time. Thank you very much.
