the 6 are not staked but the 2 that tighten CW are staked. You are probably right, the 6 are from a different bit of kit.

I tried to use the spare 5700 but didn't work. The 6 look like I can screw in different threads. I can see a philips head looking into the plastic part.

"The six" have two threaded sections. The coarse threads are left hand. The fine threads are right hand. Installation is to screw the coarse left hand threaded section into the terminal block with a phillips screwdriver until it tightens, and then use the right handed thumbsrew as standard. Models I'm aware of that use these are the KA-7300, 8300, 9100 and the supreme integrateds. They probably aren't compatible with the 7100 terminal block.
 
Beginning my 7100 refurb now... Can you tell me what you used to clean your boards? They came out very nice!

My plan now is 99/9% IPA and some elbow grease. I've also got some MG Chemicals Super Wash that has worked well for me in the past.
 
I used air compressor and blew out the dust. Then I used garden hose to wash out the crud.

If you are new at this, I recommend you stick to using an air compressor.

Then you can use cotton balls and IPA to get the remaining dirt.

I used a similar practice on a Sherwood receiver that was in a wood shop.
 
I've been into electronics for many years, and although I understand the hose or sink water wash is perfectly fine if you ensure the board is properly dried afterwards, I've never actually had the courage to try it myself. But obviously, it works - I will certainly have to experiment with some test boards someday.

Hey Rick, I heard a pop and some smoke came up from my KA-7100 after rolling the volume up and down. I believe it came from the front around the Volume potentiometer. I have not torn it down to get to front PCB.
I read you pieced two old ones together. Are there any replacements for this if I needed a new one? I am a novice to this.
But, after that pop and fizzle the volume was super quiet and only in one channel. I have replaced the transistors as I thought they might have been a problem, but it didn't fix it.
Before the incident the only way to get volume from both channels was to roll the knob back and forth before it kicked it. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
 
My guess to have a problem with the amp, not the volume control.

Did you try to clean the volume pot? It is easy to do.

The volume knobs stick to the pot shaft and can easily break. I got a broken one and used the shaft of mine to make it work.

I'd focus on troubleshooting your amp.

If the amp stays in protection, you will need to fix that. A new volume pot won't fix that.

You can inject a signal into the wires off the volume pot and check the signal with a scope at the output.

Or bring it over.
