Oddly enough, I Googled "KL-10000Z" and that's true.
The really scary part is that everything on the front is OEM!!
Somehow, those side speakers, which I didn't notice the first time around, seem like the lesser of two evils....
If you look through the Kenwood sales sheets, the KL-10000Z was more or less two of their different speakers jammed into one box.

Actually, not even jammed into one box, just 2 different boxes screwed/glued together with a top thrown on! You can see the seam both on the front and bottom.

Actually I was thinking about the title myself. The addition of drivers to these monstrosities is more like having your kid add even more piercings to themselves. These speakers are the audio equivalent of:

You know, a pair of these Kenwoods would have made you 'King of the Dorm' on many USA college campuses in the 1970's.
Yep, but they would have taken up half of the average dorm room. I guess they could be integrated into the loft system though...

Don't worry. I mean, my problem is that I can't get past thinking 'Kabuki' as stylized, masked performance art, and 'abortion' in that context makes for a true horror show. But that's just me.....

Philistine that I am, I can't think of Oriental opera without thinking of the sound of a cat fight in a drum kit.
Otherwise, "Kabuki" as a speaker leads to countless military PX Japanese speakers with too large woofers in too small boxes, too many midrange and tweeters all with overlapping response, all producing too much bad midrange perfect for really loud metal rock.

Plus, with the bass turned up, a rudimentary 'magic fingers' massager.
I think we're onto something here - there are unused sides to these speakers. Imagine what could be added to make the perfect 70s dorm room speaker. A pencil sharpener? Weed storage midrange? (if you have enough midranges, who would ever find it?) Combination passive radiator/Frisbee. Diffraction vanes converted to sideburn trimmer.
The possibilities are endless. And no one would get the humor but us.
