Don't Eat The Worm...
The wife, some friends and I are all going to the Kadena Wine Festival at the Officer club here on base soon, I like wine but I am more of a beer guy really, so can anyone help me out with what sort of things do you look for in a decent wine? Also is there some ettiquite I should know about before I go to this it sounds like fun but I dont want to be "that guy" :yes:

1. DO try everything (or at least a variety of both reds and whites)
1a. Try to work your way from whites thru to the reds....lighter to heavier wines
2. DON'T drink all of each, just enough to taste. Dumping is accepted.
3. DON'T "fist" the bowl. Hold the stemware by the stem near the bowl.
4. DO swirl the contents and jamb your nose in there to smell prior to tasting....afterall, a high percentage of taste is smell.

5. DON'T drive home if you're feeling tipsy.

Awesome! Dont sweat the driving thing, the last thing I need is a DUI, its a career ender in the military these days. Plus the Japanese will charge you 10's of thousands of dollars and put in Japanese jail and the Navy can't do a damn thing about it to help.

Good advice though, at least I can go in with a little bit of knowledge, any more reccomendations would be helpful!

We really love wine ourselves and it helps a ton that my wife is a great chef so we get to pair lot's of wines with some fine foods and deserts :thmbsp:

Taste them all....afterall, somebody poured their heart and soul into their creation and their bound to match with something :D

The only wine I had on the Rock was Annie Green Springs and Boones Farm from Fort Buckner or was it Zukeran. What can I say I was 18.
 
Went to the Wine Festival last night and I am happy to say it was a blast! I learned a lot about wines, got to taste a wide variety of locales it was really fun! I think I kind of liked it I may try to learn more about wine now. Although I may not have made use of the "bucket" enough becuase this morning my head is pounding!
