I know the guy selling them...They are mint. If you had a choice between the Maggies and some HPM-150's or CS-R700's would you take the Maggies?

If you know the guy, and they work properly then it's good. These planars will not "slam" you however they have delicacy in sound that vintage cones won't give you. They are power-hungry though and may not play at the levels you may like. That said, they are great speakers as long as you know the limitations.
