Kappa 5.1 series ii woofer refoaming

Sorry for the crosspost it was suggested I start a post here to get some specific input on the Kappa 5.1 series ii 8" woofer. I am refoaming the 902-6771 8" woofer. Under the foam surround on the speaker basket, I found an additional paper 'gasket' that was glued to the basket. This is not the thin gasket tape on the backside of the basket, this is between the foam surround and the metal basket. There are two hypotheses: 1) It was to create a flat surface for attaching the original foam surrounds. The old surrounds would have barely reached to the flat part of the metal basket without the gasket. The new surrounds have a wider lip on the basket side and reach to the flat part without a problem. 2) It is to raise the gaskets to the proper height - it is maybe 1/16 of an inch thick.

I wanted to know if anyone else has run into this 'paper gasket' and if it is essential. If it is essential and needs to be replaced, what should I use? Felpro?

My cs3006s have the same specs and speakers as the 5.1s.​

I refoamed 902-6771 8" woofer without the additional paper gasket. Just used what was in the refoam kit. No issues.
The woofers are tight. Dont put trim back on until you audition them. I had to readjust a couple times before I was able to get them dialed in. Read other posts concerning this issue with these woofers. Enjoy
