I’m searching for a reliable knowledgeable pro to recondition my bought new KD550. I have not used since early/mid 80’s and would love to spin some vintage vynel from way back and know I’m not ruining a great piece of equipment.
I’m in the Minneapolis/St Paul area and would appreciate any suggestions.

Not much to do to these, lube the motor, clean the fine speed adjust pots and then set up the cartridge on the arm properly. Don't know if you want to handle this or not. If you have the owner's manual you can follow that for the tonearm set up. Some might want to recap the unit as there are a few electrolytic caps in it. The motor lube is here:

Maybe there is a friendly aker in your area that might be able to get this done as most shops have fairly long backlogs of work.

A worthy table. Hope you get it up and running right soon.

(I would set up the tonearm and see what happens, might work just fine)
