Keep AT 10 or Shure upgrade

Hello,

I have an AR XB turntable with an AT 10 cartridge, I like how it sounds but I'm starting to wonder if I should go for something like the Shure M97xe. The rest of the system is a Marantz 2325 (if you couldn't tell) paired with Ohm F cabinets with an early trade in can, not the original walsh cone. Can anyone give any info on how these two might perform differently or if I'd really notice a difference? From what I can tell the Shure is really great on these TTs, but there's also seemingly a following for the older AT carts. I'm on a tight budget (read WAF) so I prefer to hold out any purchases until something is really worth it.

Thanks!

Personally I think in the shure line you can do better than the 97xE for similar money. the AT 10 can be greatly improved with putting an ATN12XE stylus on it. It will still have the AT house sound, but the 12XE is a vast improvement over the ATN 10. The 75-91 model shure carts just have a "personality" that the 97xE is missing.

AR XA and Shure M91 ED were paired by the manufacture at one time - AR XA 91.
