Keep your tools

Have you ever seen those ads that offer you cash for your gold jewelry etc? It's usually some guy with an Australian accent in the format of an infomercial.

I just heard about similar print ads for buying tools and machinery, which are then being shipped overseas. Nobody gets my tools! Seriously, where would we all be without tools. I use an old Dewalt radial arm saw from the early 60's and a Rockwell drill press, among other things, from the same era.

They stay right here, thank you very much.

Indeed, I've never, and don't expect to ever give away or sell my tools. (Although I did inherit some rather nice tools from my grandfather).

My tools are my tools. Nobody gets or borrows my tools. That's why I bought my wife her own little tool box with her own little set of tools she can use around the house. :D

I've used tools made overseas and can understand why they would want mine !

I inherited a decent sized, American made tool set from my Dad that I still use with regularity. However, nobody borrows my 'good' tools. The el-cheapo tools from Harbor Freight , sure, on occasion, and only to friends who are trustworthy. The 'good' tools, no chance!

I love picking up old tools at garage and estate sales.
I've got quite a few nice needle nose pliers with engraved handles that are probably from the '30s or '40s, and a bunch of old Stanley Bailey bench planes. And i still have some of the wrenches I bought back in the 1960s and 1970s when I first started wrenching on cars and bikes.

Love them good old tools :D

From that article:

"...are the unemployed who are parting with their tools to make ends meet."

Not for long. Fools.

People should keep their tools when they're poor! I was listening to a guy who's been homeless a few times and his tools are what kept him alive and got him back on his feet.

Surrendering the endlessly valuable and pragmatic tangeability of tools for increasingly worthless paper is the equivalent of swapping shiney beads for large tracts of New York state.
