Keeping track of your record collections?

I just bought this record cabinet at a thrift store.
I've never seen anything like it,it's a fine piece of furnature.
It holds about 150 albums and looks better than any other storage I've had.
he only draw back is you have to lay on the floor to file through them.

I have a question to add - If you alphabetize by artist, how do you sort multiple albums by that artist? Alphabetical? Chronological?

I have never even considered any kind of system. I could not be bothered. The downside is I paid lots for a Tangerine Dream album on E-bay that I already had. And I just figured out the other day that I have 2 Billy Cobham Spectrum albums. Now let me tell you that one has freaked me out for years. I could not figure out how that damn thing followed me around. Twins.

Can't you just tell the cat which record to pull out?

Chronological, most easily accomplished by using the number on spine. Sometimes the series changes, and then it becomes more difficult. I'm only semi-anal about this. If I can't easily tell the order I don't sweat it too badly.

That's a cool idea. Wish I had started out that way instead of doing it in Numbers. I can always make a PDF of my file and put that on my iPod, but it isn't as elegant.
But doing it in Numbers is better in a way, because you have all kind of sorting options.
