Bought a pair of KEF 101's manufacture September '81 for $20.00. One speaker was cutting out. Ohmed the speakers and they where about 7ohms so figured it was cold colder joint, loose wire, etc. Fixed about 5 cold solder joints, put new binding post on both speakers for larger wires and I have to say they sound awesome. Best $20 I have spent on equipment so far.

A superb near-field monitor. Low efficiency, which is common with speakers of this type. I wouldn't push them past the mid-90db level. You got a steal!
 
Congrats, great score. I have a pair I bought back in the 70s, am looking to pay $125+ just to replace one dented tweeter.
