I recently bought a set of kef tdm, I have seen on another site that a guy upgraded the tweeter on the LRC and was very pleased with doing so. I also would like to experiment with this, as he said it made them much more musical and better for movies. They sound great the way they are, but a little bit more musical wouldn't hurt. I'm just looking for a kef reference model tweeter that would fit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, I've tried but the thread is a few years old. So I'm not sure how to respond when the thread has been archived. He was supposed to post the model number in his post, but never did. So gatr BaDBoY if you c this please respond hahaha.
I have some info I would like to add to this thread.
I have a set of TDM speakers and last week my tweeter failed on the centre speaker so I took it out and it quite literally fell apart.
I was aware of the thread on AVForums mentionedby Dickyd25 in the first post

I contacted KEF referencing that thread and they told me the tweeter part No. is SVC+SP1487X, so I ordered one which arrived on Tuesday.
The thread on AVForums is a bit misleading in that you can do this yourself. You can BUT the original and new tweeters are not designed to just come apart so some surgery is needed. In my case as the original tweeter had already fallen apart the only surgery required was to remove the horn ring from the new tweeter. Once this is done the new tweeter will fit into the mounting plate of the original tweeter, but will not stay there, it needs to be glued in.
Obviously the centre speaker sounds better now but to be honest it is likely that the tweeter has not worked since owning speakers for three years, probably due to my age and hearing loss in the high frequencies and the tweeter looking as if it had been trod on as it was completely out of whack.
The SP1487 tweeter was used in the Q series of speakers made between 2001 – 2006.
Another development carried over from the Reference Series was the change to a metal dome tweeter, in this case aluminium, to provide a smooth and detailed response to beyond 20kHz.
and the XQ series made between 2002-2006.
The XQ range replaced the Monitor Series, offering a range of products that bridged the gap between the Q and Reference Series.
My advice based on my experience is that if the tweeters on your TDM’s are working then leave them alone, as the saying goes, (If it ain’t broke then don’t fix it) but if the tweeter is broken then do what the poster on AVForums did and ask KEF to do the modifications.
