Keith's Fisher 500C Project

The best solution is interconnects that fit next to each other.

lol. yes, that is the best solution. I'll have to track some down. any suggestions anyone?

How is the phono stage on the 500c? If I get rid of my preamp, I could just plug in over there. that would at least solve one issue.

This is one of those rare situations where cheap is better.

The more expensive, the fatter the RCA plugs.

What I do is trim the plastic down on the sides | | with the top and bottom rounded, enough to clear each other. Works pretty good except it looks like a **** job.

I'm totally down with a **** job. I'm got some rca's laying around from old tape decks. may end up going that route if need be.

R143 is a 7Watt glass usually about an inch and a 1/2 long and GREEN. Electrically its attached right between the 2 diodes and the "D" section of the 4 section C91. Physically, it's probably between V9 and V10.

R139 is a 1Watt composition and is connected between the "D" and "C" section of C91. Should be right on the + posts of C91D and C91C.

Find them and just check their resistance. Of the two, R139 is more prone to be out of spec than R142. Of the two on my 400 and 800, neither one was out more than 2%. They are both 10% spec'ed.

I'm looking for the same resistor that Keith was looking for (R139), and according to the quoted post it should be located on the + posts of C91D and C91C, but I'm not having much luck finding it. It appears that only R133,R135, and R137 are located on the posts. Attached is a pic of my C91. I've searched for 2 hours, with no luck. btw, finding R143 was a breeze using Larry's description. I hope someone has the answer to this madness!!

Thanks,
Chuck

If it's not on the cap, follow the two leads out to the tubes. Because the 375V lead feeds the 4 output tubes it's possible that the lead goes to a terminal strip first, with the 350V lead landing next to it, and the resistor being there. I've seen it on my 800C. Electrically it would be the same, but physically it's not. Go outside the lines, think outside of th box.

Thanks for replying, I do my best thinking outside of the box.
