Kenwood 700M + what preamp?

With the help and generosity from some savvy AK'ers, I recently overhauled a 700M.

I've considered acquiring the preamp mate to the 700M- the 700C. It's pricey and rare, and definitely looks great beside the 700M. But I ask myself what the 700C would bring to the table that other fine preamps can't.

Has anyone else used another preamp besides the 700C with the 700M with great success?

Thanks in advance.

The Kenwood 700C pre-amp is a great match for the 700M power-amp (afterall they were designed to go together). But better still is the Kenwood L-08C pre-amp (amazing MC phono stage). But the ultimate pre-amp would be the Sony TA-E88B... According to the experts,it's one of the very best pre-amps ever manufactured from any company... real high end stuff!
It's phono stage is simply outta this world. But of course you'll neen a hi end TT,cart, and tonearm to get the very best outt've it (that's if vinyl is your no.1 source).

These are some great leads to follow, but wowzers, they are both outta my league ($2000+).

I've got the high-end stuff to go with the preamp! (High end by my standards, anyway).

Thanks for the leads. Maybe I will find one of these for $600!

I too have kept my eyes out for those Sony's. Two popped up on ebay last week, all be it, they went for a wee bit more than what you are hoping for, but probably similar to what you would pay for a 700C.
