Will I be able to get clean sound & be safe at the same time using a Kenwood KL-333a speaker rated at 35watts max power input at 8ohms with a Sony fx-g80 receiver claiming to be 68watts per channel max Output at the rate of 6 ohms ??????????????

I picked up a Sony Mini HIFI system with its original speakers and remote. What I like about it was only the main unit as it had a decent amplifier built in . The CD player lens is not working. I don't require that. The original speakers of the Sony fx-g80 sounded so bad. excess bass (too much bass rather) the type where you can never enjoy a classical rock song cause too much bass and poor speaker size build with no fiber glass inside.

So I hoked them to my Pioneer cs-c11 speaker's. 45watts rated power & 100watts maximum power @ 6ohms each speaker. It sounds wonderful because the Sony amplifier claims to be 68watts per channel at 6 ohms as per the user manual.

How ever i want to replace the speaker with a Kenwood KL-333a speaker set.
Specification maximum input 35watts at 8 ohms

I want to know if the sound in terms of bass would be a bit better on bandwidth level because of a bigger size box and if it is a safe option for the Sony amplifier. I am planning to buy the Kenwood KL-333a speakers hence I am asking

That is fine, the load 8Ω is less than the spec of the Sony 6Ω - so that will be fine - just be careful not to crank the Sony too much as you have 68 watts on tap into 35 watt speakers. (but judging by the distortion figures of the Sony at full output, you wouldn't want to go there. ;))

If it is round the other way - speakers 6Ω, Sony 8Ω that is when there might be issues...

Thanks allot for the information provided :thmbsp:

Yes of course, I will not crank it too high. Because i actually enjoy the music currently on my Pioneer cs-c11 speaker's at volume of say 35-45% on my Sony fx-g80 (when i hear a good old song after ages). which means I am assuming the Pioneer speakers are giving out around 40watts at continuous power as the flat woofer is moving allot but not too much and no over-driving although some people may tend to overdrive
