Kenwood C1 Power Switch

The power switch in my 33 year old Basic C1 has quit working. Luckily it failed in the "on" position, I've got it plugged in to a switched plug on the back of my M1 so I haven't really lost anything. I wont be so lucky when the power switch on the M1 finally gives up the ghost. Has anyone ever replaced one of these switches? Are they even replaceable..by someone with modest soldering skills?

Thanks.

p.s. I'm the original owner of these Kenwoods (M1, C1, T1) and have something of a sentimental attachment to them.

earch for the thread on thyristor switches. Clever solution to the switch problem.
Needs a working switch. Triac/thyristor limits the current across the working switch contacts to drastically reduce pitting the switch contacts.

You ever find a replacement switch? I just picked up a C1 without a power switch so it's hot wired to ON. Still has the push button though.

I attached info from the service manual for reference.

Someone recommended the "612-P197SBEE" but you'd need a 0.01uF CAP.

I thought this video about replacing these switches was helpful too.

Good man. Mine just abruptly stopped operating in the ON position. I kept punching it. To no avail. Then after writing Dan at the site you gave, I tried pulling the switch out. The switch began working again. I will probably go ahead and buy a replacement though from Dan. Thanks again.
