Hello!
I just got Kenwood KA-3080R amp, it was working fine, except the input buttons didn't work properly i.e. when CD pressed, the TAPE enables, if i press PHONO, then CD turns on, and so on. It's always random. The buttons are microswitches on the PCB.
After some time it turned off. Tried to switch it on - it didn't. Waited a bit and turned it on. And then it just keeps going into protect at random times.
It is capable of driving 4ohm speakers, i hooked up 8ohm, and it's well ventilated.
I took off the cover and unscrewed the pcb, that has the input switches, and i noticed that there is protection referrenced on the pcb. The pcb has 32 pin microchip, so intuitively i want to blame the microchip.
When i took it apart, didn't see any burnt components or anything. The caps looked good, no dust inside.
So, yeah, maybe i can get some tips from some experienced technicians - what could i check before blindly replacing the microchip? I don't have an oscilloscope though, only basic multimeter.
Im new here, so i'm not sure if i can post schematics here, but it's easily aviable online.
