Hi I was wondering does anyone know if you can hook up a EQ to a kenwood KA-5700.

Thru the tape in and out

it has rec and play and don't know which one is in and what one is out.

Record is out, play is in.
Connect the EQ out to the play jack, the EQ input to the rec jacks.

Ok I,ve tried all buttons on the equalizer no sound difference. I got a teac eqa 20 and Yamaha eq-500 I would like to use one of them

It can get confusing. If you are not getting anywhere, why not switch the ins with the outs and see if that changes anything? Remember that you want to use tape monitor to hear the source through the EQ. Good luck!
