Kenwood KA-7100 Left Channel Distortion/Dropout

FastCars

I have a Kenwood KA-7100 that I bought new. It has developed occasional left channel static (crackling) that sometimes leads to complete channel dropout. Sometimes it has slight static on that channel and sometimes it is fine. Any help would be aprreciated.

Clean the switches and controls. Also remove the speaker relay and clean the contacts. There are many threads here that tell how to do this.

My 7100 (not the one from Brainsmasher but another) was horrible until the De-Oxit came out. Cured all ailments.

Thanks to you both for the reply and advice. I haven't cleaned any of the contacts/switches in the past, so I'd better learn now. Now if I can just get both my daughters through college, I can really step up my purchases. Maybe it's time to sell the old convertible...
