Hi guys!
I just opened a post about two Trio Kenwood Amplifier of the past:KA-801 and KA-9100.I didn't hear any Kenwood KA-9100.
Well...now I have a curiosity ... I would like to give me some opinion:
Is there many differencea between the ka-801 and ka-9100?
Do they sound fine both or do one of them sound better than the other one?
regards
Pietro

Hey there,

I saw your other thread that you had two KA-801s that you said were not in good shape.. I am curious what is not in good shape about them?

The KA-801 uses transistors that are available(replacements) Sankens I believe but the KA-9100 uses the TA-100W power packs that are not avail anymore unless from a working unit. The dual power supply is still in it and the power output is higher on the KA-801.
Design changes were made to the 801, more power, output protection etc. I have yet to have one so I have not gone thru one of these and tested or fixed one yet.
Sound wise I can't give an opinion here but I believe both of them (if up to snuff) should perform great.

Hola Sicman!!! do you really think that the KA-801 sounds powerfull?Do you really believe that this amplifier seems to have a 110 watts power outpout?...Unfortuntely I don't.
I own two KA-801,I beleive that they sound fine but they don't sound like a 110 watts amp must sound. They don't have the power of an 100 watts amp. at all.
In my opinion of course!

I can't speak for the 801 but my 9100 sounds great and can easily punish my floor standing speakers without breaking a sweat.

I haven't heard an 801 ... I like the 9100 very, hefty sounding. Fixed and sold alot of the 9100's no 801's
The build quality from looking at pics seems to go to the KA9100 in my opinion.
