I recently acquired a nice matched set of Kenwood KA-8300 and KT-8300 separates. I have been playing with the KA-8300 and love the sound and performance, both with speakers and headphones. I have only used a turntable with it so far, via the Phono 1 inputs.
I'm trying to record some LPs to digital using the KA-8300 phono stage. My setup looks like this: turntable -> (Phono 1 input jacks) - KA-8300 - (Tape A REC jacks) -> Sony PCM-A10 digital recorder.
The issue is that I am getting no output signal from the Tape REC jacks. I've tried both A and B REC jacks, plus all permutations of switch settings using the Tape Dubbing and Monitor switches on the front.
I know the turntable, digital recorder, and cables are all working well because I tried the same approach using an old NAD phono preamp instead of the KA-8300, and had no problem recording to the digital recorder this way.
Am I missing a simple trick or setting? Or do you think there could be an internal issue with the KA-8300? I bought it from the original owner who said it had never been opened up.
