Kenwood KA-9100 speaker selector non-functional

Hi Guys,
I picked up a KA-9100 which needs some work. I"ll probably start topics per item. For now it's the speaker selector which stopped working. The knob spins freely. I opened up the bottom and the top and saw that the nylon sleeve which attaches the long rod and the switch at the back is in pieces. Any suggestions how to fix this?
Thanks.

Willem

There are many threads on how to fix this. The plastic gets brittle after 40+ years.

Search for 'selector coupler'

Looks like this happens to other mfg gear too.

Thanks. I didn't know the correct name for the item. I'll buy E6000 glue and see if it works. Seems that the rod took some beating in the past as well. Probably forced it in such a way it gave.

I used a brass rod and tapped a couple of set screws in a Kenwood 11 timer. You probably can find something easier.

I took out the rod and coupler. Does it need 2 set screws? Or was a new added due to the broken coupler? The coupler is fractured where 1 set screw resided.

I found a pic of a 9100 that was just on the bench. I only see one set screw. My guess this is original.

There are many pics of these on AK. Search is your friend.

That one is pretty roached and I don't think that is the original screw. I have fixed a few of those but that one seem like it is missing a piece of the plastic?
It might be beyond a simple repair.

I doubt that E-6000 will work in the long run for that repair.
