Picked this up yesterday, FM sale. Always wanted one. Has a Grace G-707 arm & Signet TK7E cart with decent stylus. No cover, darn. Had been put away in a closet for years. Got the pots clean & playing. Refiled the arm cue damping. Now, have to find a place to set it up.

Playing a 'Soul' label album on it eh ? Is it Glady's, Ruffin, Junior, Shorty or the Originals maybe ? Here I have just re-fit an OEM 5050 tonearm on a 5000 to pass it on to a friend who's been out of a proper turntable worthy of that name for too long.

Although I am no into the direct drive thing anymore, I must admit that I am under charm by this one for it's looks, it's feels an it's smooth yet tight operations. In it's new home it will be fitted with a 2M 'Blue'. Matching the OEM tonearm 'resonance'.

Jr Walker & the All Stars.

To this day my stone favorite tune by Junior is still 'Cleo's mood' that I discovered on the first label Harvey while crate digging in Boston. Likely I would have heard 'Cleo's mood' years before on the later issue 45 flip of 'shake and finger pop' on the Soul label. By then I was seeking other stuffs on 45's... On the 'rare' soul scene 'I ain't going nowhere' is still a firm favorite.

Too bad about the missing cover. For one like I who truly always had the biggest aversion for those ugly big piece of chinky plastic, I have to admit that the hinges on this Kenwood are of the tight firm kind and with the design of the back cover that allow to make it stand up without coming in the way of what' behind the turntable... Hope you can find one one day.

Just finished tweaking the pot adjustments, replenished the cue, adjusted the arm. Just gave Steely Dan Gaucho a spin. Gave me shivers up my spine. Now to find a proper cover.
