Kenwood KD-5070 / KD-5077 Cueing Lever

Hey Folks,

Just picked up a Kenwood KD-5077 from Craigslist. I love how this model Kenwood looks and sounds!

I was having problems with the cueing lever not quite lifting the arm high enough to get over the record. After doing some searching on these forums I noticed some others having the same problem.

In the end it turned out the foam material on the lifter had hardened and disintegrated. Being so close to the base of the tone arm, the slight change in height of the lifter due to the foam disintegration was enough to not allow the arm to get over the record.

The solution was to remove the old foam and replace it with a DIY piece. I cut a bit of dense foam from some packing material and glued it on. Voila! Perfect cueing height and cue lever functionality. You may have some trial and error getting the right height, but its a pretty simple fix.

Good Luck!

Congratulations on getting a nice turntable, and I'm glad you were able to fix it. I just picked up a nice KD-5070 a few days ago. Everything works well. It works best without the anti skate hooked up. When I forced it to skip, the tonearm didn't go far at all. I just need to polish the cover and it very well may be my best turntable. Getting it for $18.99 was a nice bonus.
