Kenwood KD-550 arm v. JVC Victor UA-5045 arm.

Picked up a JVC QL-10 month or so ago. It didn't have the UA-7045 arm common to this set up. It had the arm from a Kenwood KD-550 table. I just got a UA-5045 arm from a fellow over on Audiogon. Seems to be fuctional but he cut the wires at the base as it did not have the common 5 pin plug. I can repair it or re-wire it. Question is, will it be much better than the Kenwood arm? The 5045 is gimbaled as is the 7045. The 550 arm seems to be no slouch, but would it be a move up or sideways to swap them out. I would have to modify or make a new mounting base. Thoughts?

Probably sideways. Measure the effective mass of each and see which matches your carts better.

Pretty sure it was Micro Seiki made that arm for Kenwood.

I also thought it to be a Micro Seiki. Sounds awesome with my AT30e cart. But the guy offered me the arm free, thought it was a 7045, alas not. Thought I'd hook it up anyway to see how it does.

Gary if the KD-550 arm is working well with the AT30e cartridge why mess with success., plus it didn't cost you anything extra.
