This is my first post on this site. I have just recently got interested in old stereo equipment. I wanted some music for my shop and garage so I thought I would look for an old cheap receiver figuring anything would be fine out there. Well I found a Sansui "8" on craigslist and ended up buying it and 4 Kenwood KL-3080 speakers. I hooked up the Sansui (it needs to be taken apart and really cleaned) to some JBL 2600 speakers I bought from another guy and stood back and went "WOW" that's the best sound in my whole house!
So I kind of went nuts and bought a Pioneer SX-3800 ($60) and a Pioneer SX-750 ($75) and a Pioneer SX-650 ($20). All of them work great and I have thoroughly cleaned the 750 and am in the process of totally re-lamping it. I used Deoxit which I learned from you good folks on here too.
Well, anyway these Kenwood KL-3080 speakers are sitting in the garage and I was just wondering how good they were. I took the front off of one and the woofers are all paper it seems. I thought I was going to see rotting foam but these are different type. Anyway, I would appreciate any of your thoughts on this. Thanks a bunch. Newbie in Alabama.
