Kenwood KL-888S speaker question

Seller said the speakers were in storage for about 8 months, they were his resent deceased Grandfathers. He didn't know anything about them. He claimed he tested them. Said his grandfather used to buy and sell items on ebay or craigslist.

Not sure what a resale value would be if you are looking for something to flip, but if you are looking for something to keep and use, they do look very interesting.
A local here is trying to sell some 777's with all the woofer surrounds gone for almost $300, so the $100 for those may be a decent score.
I haven't heard these speaker's, they just look interesting to me. very well could be a decent sounding speaker.

I thought they were interesting and want to keep them. Plus their supposed to be very efficient.

Not worth wasting your time on. Save that c-note to put towards some decent speakers.
Why do you say that? What's your reason?

Oh they're probably efficient but that doesn't mean they'll sound good. Shouty, with no bass to speak of is what they sound like and yes I've heard a pair. I also owned a pair of the 777's briefly. They were free and I was hoping they'd sound ok in a secondary set up. Even though they were free I brought them right back. Save your money for some speakers you'll be proud to own and listen to.

I need you guys opinion/suggestions/whatever.
My opinion - Kenwood made some excellent audio gear, those speakers are far far away at the other end of the spectrum. In terms of quality audio reproduction, they are perhaps one step above total crap.

My suggestion - with your 100 securely in your pocket, run fast in the opposite direction from them, and let them tempt you no more.

Whatever - There are dozens of better speakers out there that can be owned for the same entry fee or less. Patience and due diligence will connect you with something much better.

In regard to those particular Kenwood speakers, there are pro SR/PA speakers out there that can sometimes be found in the same entry fee range that will wipe the floor with those Kennies in all regards except perhaps the gondotrophic visual impact to the unwitting.
