Kenwood kp-1022 versus Sony PS-1150 versus Marantz 6110 versus Pioneer pl-117d

Hi all

So my wife wants me to get rid of a few of my darlings as they really are just standing collecting dust or are in storage. I will get to keep 2 out of the 4 and choose betweenthe following;

Kenwood KP-1022 (wood)
Sony PS-1150 (wood)
Marantz 6110 (steelgrey)
Pioneer pl-117d (wood)

I have bought all of the turntables as parts or non-working turntables and fixed them up as a hobby. All of them works flawlessly now, have all parts still on them (including counterweights on the Kenwood!). The Sony has a crack in the dust cover but it´s still useable.

They all have the original tonearm and pickupshell. I have many choices for cartridges and stylus at home so I say we leave that bit out of the equation. Which turntables should I keep and why?

They will not be my primary turntable as I have others aswell but they will be paired with a Marantz 4270 receiver.

Dates and prices from Orion guide except the Sony which is not listed. The Sony data is from the October 1975 Audio Magazine available at www.worldradiohistory.com. The Sony 1100 in Orion was 1974-1979 $100 and is a idler drive the 1150 is belt drive and I expect it to be better.

Prices increased over time and all your tables are nice entry-level hi-fi offerings. The Keeper would be the Pioneer because of name recognition and the fact the the lower end Pioneer tables are enjoyed by folks that have better tables available because of a decent tonearm. Also condition plays a part in the keeper choice as does the opportunity to cash in on the Marantz name when you sell that table.

Thanks for the feedback. Can´t believe I find it so hard to separate myself from thses old turntables. I really don´t need any of them but they just bring so many different things to the table (no pun intended). Hope a few more members here speak their mind and give me some input what they think.
